Surely there must be SOME part of future Earth that is untainted, so that the rich elite wouldn't have to leave the planet. Somewhere like Easter Island perhaps?

Welcome to the planet, baby...this is all happening right now.
What might happen in a hundred and fifty years?

One really wonders what alien visitors would think of Earth and humanity. Would they be impressed? Would they be disgusted by the pollution and the fact that most of the population lives in poverty? I think much would depend on how intelligent the aliens were relative to humans.....what do you/readers think?
ReplyDeleteI think that they would most likely be unimpressed and because of it, treat us the same way the European explorers and colonists treated Africans and the indigenous peoples of Australia and the Americas.

There's a plethora of first contact stories that involve every possible option for our first meeting with alien visitors, and yes, in some of them we are exploited. In others, we are envied - I recall a short story wherein humanity tries to conceal its brutal history, only to discover that the extraterrestrial visitors have come to us in hopes of learning to live as peacefully as we do.
